Anna is a 9 year old Registered (Canadian Registered name Lacoulee's Freelance Annabelle) Clydesdale mare who was transferred to us from Frog Pond Farm Horse Rescue for intensive rehabilitation. Difficult to put weight on and in need of corrective farrier care, Anna has required some extra help. She is on a special diet and is slowly improving, and we are investigating the cause of some moderate blood work abnormalities.
Anna is assigned to Youth Intern Taylor, who is completing a year long internship as part of her High School studies. Already an accomplished equestrian in her own right, Taylor is expanding her horsemanship skills into learning how to evaluate, rehabilitate, re-train, and eventually find an adoptive home for a rescue horse in need. Taylor is completely responsible (under guidance) for Anna's training work, and will see Anna through her training and eventually interview her potential adopter's when the time is right.
Taylor is starting Anna, who has no previous training, with ground work foundations. Here she is teaching Anna how to yield to rein pressure, which is the first step to steering and also stopping.
Here Taylor practices ground driving to help Anna develop a clear understanding of turning, steering, and halting prior to a rider being in the saddle.
Here Anna is mounted and feels a rider's weight for the first time.
Adoption Fee to be Determined at end of Rehab and Training.
