Mattie

Mattie is approximately 8-10 years old, and was an Amish plow horse.  Rescued from New Holland on May 10, 2010,  Mattie most likely lost her job on the plow because she has Roars, also known as Laryngeal Paralysis.  Mattie had tieback surgery to correct this in October 2010 and has since recovered fully. The vet has cleared her to start working and she is slowly being brought back to fitness after being off so long. Right now, she gets tired after about 30 minutes of riding.

Below is of a more recent ride. Mattie can be fairly sassy under saddle and is not currently suitable for a beginner rider.

Mattie begins her under saddle training.  Mattie is very energetic and is not your usual plow horse.  The Amish would say she has "snap"!

We don't know much about Mattie yet, as we haven't been able to really work her hard.  What we do know, is she LOVES to be scratched all over, likes to play in water, comes when called, and adores being sprayed by the hose on a hot day.  A very affectionate, very outgoing mare who acts half her age and romps and plays like a four year old!
