Texas, 12 year old Belgian Gelding

Texas is a big boy and stands at about 17.3 hands tall.  Texas is a trail riding fool, and rides quietly on the trail alone or in groups.  In the arena, he is very lazy and resistant and makes his rider work for every ounce of performance they get out of him.  Outside he is supple and compliant.  He simply finds the ring work boring.  Texas rides in a hackamore and is easy to turn and stop.  He does not require the force a bit, nor does he respond well to one.  We would ask he remain being ridden bitless.

Texas would be a nice hubby/loaner horse for a trail family.  He loads well, bathes, ties, and behaves away from home without stress.  Picks up his feet but needs some practice still with his rear feet.  Texas has a history of being stiff all over when rising from sleep (he sleeps flat out in his stall, and snores, too!).  Two Vets have examined him and neither can find an injury or lameness, but he is not 100% correct in his way of going.  We strongly suspected he had Lymes Disease, but testing returned a negative for Lymes.  We are currently ruling out EPSM, which can be treated by diet, but it doesn't fully explain why he would be sore all over. He ,ay just have a generalized mild arthritis from plowing, so he should be limited to pleasure riding at the W/T/C.

Adoption Fee of $1200.
